Monica C. Mueller, a homemaker and devoted church volunteer, died unexpectedly Sunday in her Town of Tonawanda home. She was 71.
She was born Monica Sander in Buffalo and earned a bachelor's degree from Buffalo State Teachers College. She taught for a few years before leaving to raise her children.
Mrs. Mueller served as a
Eucharistic minister at nursing homes, worked in the St. Francis Xavier soup kitchen and assisted families attending funerals at St. Christopher Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Katrina VanHousen of the Town of Tonawanda; three sons, Thomas of Pittsburgh, Jeffrey of the Town of Tonawanda and John of Tokyo; and five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1085 Englewood Ave., Town of Tonawanda. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
