>Legislature Republicans won't probe elections case
MAYVILLE -- Republicans on the Chautauqua County Legislature have decided not to conduct their own investigation of alleged misconduct in the Board of Elections.
Minority Leader Fred Croscut said his members stand behind a full investigation by County Executive Greg Edwards, which was initiated by County Comptroller Dennis Goggin.
GOP Elections Commissioner Terry Niebel is accused of falsifying his time cards and handling personal business on county time.
Croscut said the decision was made after talking over the matter with Niebel and County Republican Committee Chairman Jack Glenzer.
"I think I speak for not only the Republican legislators, but all the county committee people and even Jack Glenzer: Investigate it, get it over with, whatever happens, happens," he said.
