>McJury receives honor from state court system

BATAVIA -- Bonnie McJury, Genesee County commissioner of jurors, has been awarded one of the state court system's top employee honors for her work in the community and with students and her contributions to improving the court system, court officials announced Monday.

Justice Sharon A. Townsend, administrative judge of the state's Buffalo-based Eighth Judicial District, will present McJury the court system's Quality Service Award during noontime proceedings Wednesday in the Genesee County Court Facility, 1 W. Main St.

A Long Island native who began work as a part-time clerk in the Genesee County Commissioner of Jurors office in 1979, McJury was cited for her numerous jury outreach efforts through presentations at schools, service organizations and on local radio and television.

An Oneonta State College graduate and mother of three, McJury is a member of the City of Batavia Youth Board, active on many court system committees and works with Cornell Cooperative Extension's Genesee County student intern and shadow jury programs.
