Kathleen M. Romance, a retired teacher, died of cancer Monday in her Hamburg home. She was 75.
Born in Lackawanna, Miss Romance was a graduate of Mount Mercy Academy. She earned a bachelor's degree from Medaille College and a master's degree from Canisius College.
Miss Romance started teaching in 1948, spending 22 years in schools in the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo. She then taught in West Seneca Central Schools -- including Allendale Elementary School -- from the 1970s until her retirement in 1993.
She was involved in many organizations, among them the Blossom Garden Club -- of which she was past president -- and the 8th District of the Federation Garden Clubs of New York State. She also was president of Christian Women of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and religious education teacher.
Survivors include a sister, Carol A. Pace of Hamburg, and a brother, John R. of Orchard Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Grace Church, 3319 Lake Shore Road, Woodlawn, after prayers at 8:45 in John J. Kaczor Funeral Home, 5453 Southwestern Blvd, Hamburg. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.
