Roy G. Burkard of Cheektowaga, a retired autoworker, died Sunday in Buffalo General Hospital after a long illness. He was 64.
Mr. Burkard was an assembler at the General Motors Powertrain Plant in the Town of Tonawanda from 1972 to 1998.
Born in Buffalo, he graduated from Cleveland Hill High School and served in the Navy from 1959 to 1961.
A member of Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, he was a former member of the U-Crest Fire Company.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Kurczewski Burkard; two sons, Mark and Todd, both of Cheektowaga; a brother, Robert of Cheektowaga; and three granddaughters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Queen of Martyrs Church, 180 George Urban Blvd., Cheektowaga, after prayers at 10:30 in Melvin J. Sliwinski Funeral Home, 85 George Urban Blvd., Cheektowaga. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
