Dorothy A. Shareno died Friday in the Cheektowaga Center for Hospice and Palliative Care after a short illness. She was 86.
A Buffalo native, she started her career as a legal secretary after graduating from Grover Cleveland High School in 1939. She worked for 46 years as a secretary at various businesses, including Brunswick and AMF bowling centers. Her last position, from which she retired in 1986, was as a secretary for DeLew, Cather and Associates.
She was most proud of her shorthand skills. She loved to bowl, and follow politics and the Buffalo Bills.
She is survived by her twin sister, Mathilda Cunningham of West Seneca.
Her nephew, the Rev. James B. Cunningham, pastor of St. Agnes Parish of Buffalo, will officiate at a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. Monday in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 194 Ludington St.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
