Chester J. Mekarski of Cheektowaga, a longtime employee of Bell Aerospace, died Thursday in Williamsville View Manor. He was 86.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Mekarski served with the Army in England during World War II. He worked about 38 years as an assembler at Bell Aerospace, retiring in the late 1970s.
Mr. Mekarski was a life member of Pvt. Leonard Post Jr. Post 6251, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Phyllis T. Kotowski of Cheektowaga; a son, John of Clarence; a sister, Terri Roberts of Pahrump, Nev.; and a brother, John of Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 4125 Union Road, Cheektowaga, following prayers at 9 in Urban-Amigone Funeral Home, 3645 Genesee St. Entombment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
