Steven D. Cappellino, president of Towne Buick-Hummer in Williamsville, was one of 66 award winners in the 37th annual Time Magazine Quality Dealer Awards. The awards were presented on Saturday at the National Automobile Dealers Association convention in Orlando. The awards, presented with the NADA, honor franchised new-vehicle dealers for their business performance and outstanding community service.

The YMCA of Greater Buffalo promoted Allison Lawson to executive director of the Ken-Ton Family YMCA, 535 Belmont Ave. Previously, Lawson was the interim executive director and fitness director of the Northeast Family YMCA Branch in Amherst.


The National Kidney Foundation of Western New York named Joseph J. Welter to its board of directors. Welter is a partner with Kavinoky Cook where he heads the Buffalo law firm's Insurance Practice Group.

The Upstate New York Transplant Services named Dr. Margaret Paroski chairperson of its board of directors. Paroski is executive vice president and chief medical officer at Kaleida Health. Other officers: Vice chairperson, Dr. James Reidy, Erie County Medical Center; secretary, Eileen Nahigian and treasurer, Paul Hettich, Brylin Hospitals. New members: Benjamin Bluman, HSBC Bank; David Carlson, Sentz-Carlson Agency; Dr. George Blessios, Surgical Associates of WNY; Richard Koch and Dr. James J. Reidy, University at Buffalo.

The Buffalo law firm of Goldberg Segalla recently opened a new office at 373 Route 111, Smithtown. The firm has additional offices in Rochester, Albany, Manhattan and White Plains.

M.J. Peterson Real Estate recently launched the Centralized Showing Service system. CSS increases showings and the potential for faster sales by allowing sales associates to schedule appointments shortly after obtaining a listing by calling one number or assessing the CSS Web site 24 hours a day, seven days a week. CSS generates a record of everyone who has seen the property, making follow-up easier and allowing for quicker feedback.

AAA Western and Central New York recently recognized Sweeney's Garage as a 2005 AAA Approved Auto Repair Top Shop award winner. The garage, a five-time recipient of the award, is located at 424 Niagara Falls Blvd. in Tonawanda.
