Edith L. Garrison, special-education teacher Oct. 31, 1929 -- Feb. 12, 2006

Edith L. Garrison of Buffalo, a retired special-education teacher, died Sunday of natural causes while on a trip to Atlanta. She was 76.

Mrs. Garrison, whose nickname was "Honey," retired from School 80 in 1987. She had been a teacher since 1972. She previously worked as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service.

She earned a degree in special education from the University at Buffalo in 1972.

Born Edith Frank in Niagara Falls, she attended public schools there.

Her husband, Albert, died in 1992.

She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Johnson of Milwaukee; three sons, Al, David and Kenneth, all of Atlanta; a sister, Denise Wallace of Atlanta; a brother, Phillip Frank of Niagara Falls; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, 572 Clinton St.
