Donald Francis Horton of Blasdell, a retired electrician, died Wednesday in Erie County Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 77.
Mr. Horton was born in Lackawanna and served in the Navy aboard the USS Wisconsin at the end of World War II.
For 40 years, Mr. Horton worked as an electrician with
Local 41, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, retiring in 1990.
He was a Blasdell firefighter for more than 50 years, did maintenance work for the village and served on the Planning Board and Board of Assessors.
Mr. Horton was a member of the Blasdell Exempt Firemen's Wednesday Golf League and was the treasurer for the Blasdell Exempt Firemen's Association.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Diane M. Toth; two daughters, Sharon Bushen and Barbara Powers, both of Blasdell; two sons, Kevin and Darrell, both of Blasdell; a sister, Joan Hepfer of West Seneca; and 11 grandchildren.
A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in John J. Kaczor Funeral Home, 3450 South Park Ave., Blasdell. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Orchard Park.
