The Town of Tonawanda Aquettes won the East Zone trophy for having the most girls advance to the finals of the East Zone Junior Championships in synchronized swimming, held last Friday through Sunday in Tonawanda.
Aquettes who earned top-three finishes were: Solo -- Laurie Wakelam, first, Jessica Grogan, second; Duet -- Jessica Bagley, Tricia Melber, second, Kim Vollmer, Rina Hanna-Gregoretti, third; Trio -- Bagley, Hanna-Gregoretti, Lauren Spatzer, second; Team -- Alexis Clune, Kaitlyn Vaticano, Kelsey Anderson, Joanna Jones, Kristie Mack, Laura Brick, Katie Gillies and Julia Kaczmarek, third.

RUNNING: The 12th annual Runners Medical Forum will be held at 7 p.m. March 2 at Butler Auditorium in the Medical School Building on the University at Buffalo's South Campus. In addition, trophies will be presented to the overall and age-group winners of The Buffalo News Runner of the Year series. Admission is $5.

SWIM LESSONS: The Town of Tonawanda Aquatic & Fitness Center will be offering American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim lessons beginning the week of Feb. 27 with registration for members now under way and registration for nonmembers beginning Monday. Children, except for those in parent and child lessons, must be tested prior to their lessons. Testing times are Saturdays after 2 p.m. and Sundays after noon.
