NIAGARA FALLS -- Margaret R. Lynch, a former Niagara Falls resident and a longtime employee of Jenss department store, died Tuesday in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home, Lewiston, after a long illness. She was 95.
Born Margaret Dunn in Pittston, Pa., she moved with her husband to the Niagara Falls area in 1937. She was a sales clerk in housewares for Jenss.
Family and friends remember her walking down Main Street during its heyday, on her way to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
"She always had a friendly smile for those around her," said her granddaughter Heather A. DeCastro of Lewiston. "She was a proud, feisty and independent woman who, despite not having a formal education, was highly intelligent and current on world events and politics."
Mrs. Lynch's husband, John, died in 1969.
Surviving are two daughters, Winifred Queeno of Clarence and Mary of Lewiston; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m Friday in Sacred Heart Church, 1112 South Ave. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
