Badinici's shot seals UB victory over Miami

Viorica Badinici's baseline jump shot with five seconds to go capped a late rally that gave the University at Buffalo a 62-61 women's basketball victory over Miami (Ohio) before 547 in Alumni Arena on Tuesday night.

The Bulls trailed 34-28 at halftime and were still behind by six points, 59-53, with 4:12 left. UB's 7-0 run then forged a 60-59 lead on a layup by Heather Turner, a three-pointer by Badinici and a jumper by Brooke Meunier.

Miami went up, 61-60, on a jump shot by Jenna Schone with 2:04 left. The teams traded misses before an errant pass gave UB the ball with 27 seconds left. The Bulls ran their offense to set up Badinici, who nailed the game-winner from about 8 feet. A desperation three-pointer by Miami was no good.
