>Overnight move planned for emergency facility

NIAGARA FALLS -- Staff of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will move the hospital's entire emergency department into the new ER1/Heart Center of Niagara facility at Walnut Avenue and 10th Street overnight Wednesday.

Beginning at 2 a.m., the move is expected to take from three to five hours. During the time of the transition, hospital staff will simultaneously operate two emergency rooms a block away from each other so service can continue without interruption.

Hospital management postponed the original move, scheduled for last Wednesday, after ER1 Medical Director Steven Lopez was called out of town for a family emergency.
