>KISS Radiothon raises $335,180 for hospital
The four-day KISS Cares for Kids Radiothon raised $335,180 for Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo. The annual event has helped "countless children and their families" in the region, said Elsie Dawe, executive director of the hospital foundation.
During live broadcasts from the Fisher-Price Family Center at Children's, KISS-98.5 morning show hosts Janet Snyder, Nicholas Picholas and Wease invited listeners to donate by calling phone lines manned by volunteers from Tops, Home Depot, Tim Hortons and Wal-Mart stores.
Proceeds from last year's radiothon were used to buy a state-of-the-art microscope for the hospital that is used in delicate surgeries involving the brain and spine.
