Francisco Figueroa Sr., who retired as a garbage truck driver for the City of Sajardo, Puerto Rico, died Friday in Erie County Home and Infirmary, Alden, after a long illness. He was 73.
Born in Puerto Rico, where he graduated from high school, Mr. Figueroa also worked in construction and farming. For the past five years, he lived in Buffalo.
His wife, Rosario Carrion Figueroa, died in 1986.
He is survived by five daughters, Maria Isabel, Andia, Roscita and Sonia, all of Puerto Rico, and Miriam of New Jersey; four sons, Francisco Jr. of Buffalo, Jose Luis of New York City, Cheo of Newark, N.J., and Ito of Puerto Rico; a sister, Isabel of Puerto Rico; a brother, Santo of Philadelphia; and 17 grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. today in Lombardo Funeral Home, 473 Niagara St., after a wake at 4.
