A "celebration of life" service in memory of Lockport native and Niagara Falls resident Christopher J. Oakes will be held at 10:30 a.m. today in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Mr. Oakes, a hotel worker and former resident of Anaheim, Calif., died Dec. 17 in Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, after a lengthy illness. He was 43.
He graduated from Niagara-Wheatfield High School and attended Niagara County Community College.
He worked for the Summit Hotel in Niagara Falls for a brief time after college and then moved to California in his 20s. There, he worked for the Best Western and Marriott chains, rising to the position of front desk administrator. He returned to Niagara Falls several years ago.
Survivors include his mother, Rosemary of North Tonawanda; two sisters, Sandra Guzman and Gail, both of Niagara Falls; and two brothers, Gary of Wheatfield and David of Lake Forest, Calif.
