Identical twin sisters Jess and Lisa Origliasso -- poised to take over the world as the Veronicas -- were born on Christmas Day in 1985. Not in a manger, actually, but in a hospital in Brisbane, Australia. Perhaps this accounts for the girls' deeply held belief, formed when they were but wee lasses, that they were somehow different and destined to do something big.
Well, one doubts there is a Nobel Peace Prize in their future, but the Veronicas have definitely glommed onto something big. The group's debut effort, "The Secret Life of . . .," out this week, is a pop-rock platter with sharp teeth and more hooks than a seasoned fisherman's tacklebox.
Picture AC/DC played by the Bay City Rollers, or Joan Jett run through Avril Lavigne's meat grinder, and you get the general idea.
The sisters arrived in the United States for their first tour two weeks back and make it to the Town Ballroom, 681 Main St., for a 7 p.m. show Sunday. Tickets are going for $10 and can be found now at the Town Ballroom box office or through www.tickets.com.
