Buffalo Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Sigma Tau will have a pound auction at a dessert meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in Glenwood Village, Williamsville. Janet Bartlett, Helene Blackledge and Norma Martin will be hostesses. Tressa Wilbur is chairwoman of the chapter's annual Valentine's Day service activity at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Boys & Girls Club of Buffalo on Babcock Street.

Jim Simon, a graduate student at University at Buffalo, will speak on global climate change and alternative energy sources during a "Caring for Creation Forum," hosted by Church Women United in Buffalo and Erie County, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Durham Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 200 East Eagle St. near Michigan Avenue. A free will offering will be taken.

Immaculata Academy will have its sixth annual Monte Carlo Night from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the school. Donation is $25 to benefit Immaculata's athletic program. Seats are limited to 300. Call Mike Fitzgerald, athletic director, at 646-0782.

A Valentine's Day Dance will be sponsored by Our Lady of Peace and Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary catholic churches from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Peace Church, 10950 Main St., Clarence. "Come Where the Love Is" is the theme of the meeting of American Baptist Women's Ministries of Erie County from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Shiloh Baptist Church, 15 Pine St.

Eastern Erie Retired Teachers' Association will honor members age 85 or older at a birthday celebration at the group's winter meeting Wednesday in Alton's Columns Banquet Center, Elma. A business meeting at 11:15 a.m. and luncheon will precede the celebration. Members are asked to take inexpensive children's books for donation to the Family Literacy Program sponsored by Literacy Volunteers of Buffalo and Erie County.

Free Buffalo/Free New York, a general interest group dedicated to maximizing personal and economic freedom, will sponsor a Valentine's Day-themed "Liberty Ball" from 8 p.m. until midnight Saturday at Leonard Post Jr. VFW Post, 2450 Walden Ave. Music will be provided by Jony James Blues Band.
