Elvira Deeb, a longtime sales clerk for Sears, Roebuck & Co., died Monday in Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Town of Tonawanda, after a brief illness. She was 90.
Born Elvira Popa in Buffalo, she worked at Sears on Main Street and Jefferson Avenue for 30 years, retiring in 1980.
Mrs. Deeb joined Sears in 1950, setting daily and weekly sales records in the infant wear, lamps and china departments. After 13 years in sales, she moved to the unit control office, monitoring sales and inventory and pricing merchandise.
Born in Buffalo, she graduated from Hutchinson-Central High School.
Her husband of 38 years, Michael, died in 1973.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Lamb of Buffalo and Sunrise, Fla.; a son, Gary of Kenmore; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Lombardo Funeral Home, 102 Linwood Ave. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.
