Alfred University named Norman Pollard dean of students. Pollard most recently served as director of the Counseling and Student Development Center at the university more than 13 years.

Hodgson Russ partner Harry G. Meyer served as program chair for the New York State Bar Association Real Property Law Section's annual meeting recently in Manhattan. A member of the law firm's Real Estate and Finance Practice Group and the Buffalo Anti-Flipping Task Force, Meyer also was a recent guest on WNED-AM's Law Line where he answered questions about the task force.

The New York State Bar Association elected Paul J. Suozzi chair of its Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section. Suozzi, a partner at the Buffalo law firm, heads its Governmental Tort Liability and Medical Malpractice groups.

The Western New York Alarm Association donated approximately $500 in new toys to the Buffalo Salvation Army for distribution to WNY families in need of holiday assistance. The toys were collected during the association's third annual holiday toy drive at its December meeting.
