Margaret Campbell Powers, a retired customer service representative and businesswoman, died Sunday in Wyoming County Nursing Facility after a brief illness. She was 88.
Born Margaret Campbell in Java, she was a graduate of Delevan High School.
A West Court Street resident, Mrs. Powers was a customer service representative for Rochester Gas & Electric Corp. for 17 years, working first out of the utility's Warsaw office and then in Perry until she retired in 1989.
She and her husband, Robert J., owned and operated Powers News & Gift Shop here from 1955 to 1973. He died in 1988.
Mrs. Powers was a member of the Auxiliary Walter Klein Post, American Legion, for many years. She also was a member of several business and professional organizations and senior citizens groups in the Warsaw area.
Surviving are a daughter, Madelynn Powers Thayer of Warsaw; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
