North Tonawanda has record-setting meet
The North Tonawanda girls indoor track team broke four school records at Sunday's Select Invitational at Fredonia State. Turning in record-setting performances were Casey Green in the 55 meters (7.53), Jacuelyn Burns in the 600 (1:40.6), Alicia Bykowicz in the pole vault (8-6) and the 4x400 relay team of Green, Burns, Val Rosart, and Bridget Montesanti (4:21.3).
Sarah Veith of Lake Shore, Krystal Yerne of Lake Shore and Brianna Steel of Newfane were double winners. Among the boys, Josh Zubler of Frontier was a double winner and North Tonawanda's Dan Zuch won the 300 meters and was on the Jacks' winning 4x200 relay.
Timon ties South, Lancaster wins in hockey
Dan Krug scored the game-tying goal with 48 seconds left and goalie Tom Barnes had an acrobatic save with six seconds left to preserve Timon St. Jude's 2-2 tie with Williamsville South in the Section VI Federation. Krug had both goals for the Tigers. For South, Dustin Jones had a goal and assist.
Lancaster capped off a 3-0-1 week with a 3-1 win over Frontier at Buffalo State. Senior forward Andrew Klin scored all three goals. He tallied in the first period, had the go-ahead goal with 5 minutes left in the game, and added an empty-netter. Goalie Matt Oetinger had 24 saves for the Redskins.
