Leonard Kwilos Jr., State Police investigator Feb. 23, 1941 -- Feb. 2, 2006

Leonard R. Kwilos Jr., a retired State Police investigator, died Thursday in Buffalo General Hospital. He was 64.

Born in Eden, he graduated from North Collins High School.

He was a senior investigator when he retired from the State Police after 37 years of service.

Mr. Kwilos enjoyed fishing, canoeing and doing home construction projects. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Gowanda.

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Melody Westburg Kwilos; two daughters, Laurie of Irvine, Calif., and Cynthia Mazgaj of Depew; three sons, Leonard R. III of Atlanta, Ryan Kubasiak of Ballston Lake and Randy Kubasiak of Rensselaer; two sisters, Ellen Kindley of Hamburg and Patricia Herzberg of Morganville, N.J.; three brothers, Steve of Ashville, Ala., Ronald of Eden and Gerald of Randolph, N.J.; and five grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Church, 67 E. Main St., Gowanda. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Gowanda.
