Edward C. Metzger, Ford retiree, veteran Jan. 15, 1918 -- Jan. 29, 2006

Services for Edward C. Metzger of West Seneca, a retired Ford employee, were held today in Sieck & Mast Funeral Home, West Seneca. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.

Mr. Metzger, a native of Buffalo, died Sunday in Ridge View Manor Rehabilitation Center. He was 88.

He served in the Army in the North Africa and European theaters during World War II.

He was a blader operator at Ford Motor Co.'s Buffalo Stamping Plant in Hamburg from January 1951 until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of Local 897, United Auto Workers.

Mr. Metzger once owned an antique 1929 Ford "jalopy" and enjoyed doing carpentry work at his home.

His wife, Mildred Piontek Metzger, died in 1983.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Langdon of Falcon, Colo.; a son, Karl E. of Newbury Park, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
