Buffalo's 12th annual Oscar Night America takes place at 6 p.m. March 5 in Salvatore's Italian Gardens, 6461 Transit Road, Lancaster. The event includes a silent auction, gourmet food and a large-screen viewing of the Oscars. Proceeds benefit Shea's Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $50 and are available at Shea's box office or by calling 829-1172.


The American Academy of Ballet, 491 W. Klein Road, Williamsville, will host summer auditions for the Chautauqua School of Dance from 3 to 4:30 p.m. (11- to 13-year-olds) and 4:30 to 6 p.m. (14- to 19-year-olds) Saturday and for the New York City School of American Ballet from 2 to 3:30 p.m. (12- to 14-year-olds) and 3:30 to 5 p.m. (15- to 18-year-olds) Feb. 12. The Chromatic Club of Buffalo is seeking new members. Auditions are being held Feb. 12 in the Community Music School, 415 Elmwood Ave., for three performing groups: active, Chromatic Connection and students. Figurative draftsmen, painters, sculptors, photographers and fabric/needlework artists are sought for the School of the Arts first Figure Exhibit. One work must be submitted by Feb. 28 to the school, 402 Center St., Lewiston, for the March exhibit. All work should have the proper hanging gear for presentation.
