Russian man sentenced for not filing tax return
A Russian citizen who recently graduated with a business degree from the University at Buffalo was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor tax-fraud charge.
The U.S. attorney's office said Ozir Ozov, 31, of Amherst, was sentenced to 10 weeks in jail, the amount of time he already served after his arrest last year. U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny also ordered him to pay a $2,000 fine.
Ozov failed to file a nonresident tax return reporting income from a job and some investments, prosecutor Anthony M. Bruce said.
