Wachovia Securities, a personal and business financial services provider, named Morton Abramson first vice president-investments, PIM portfolio manager and David Schneeweiss senior vice president-investments, senior portfolio manager. Abramson has 24 years of financial services industry experience having previously served with Advest Inc. He is graduate of the University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy and also attended UB School of Graduate Management. Schneeweiss has 18 years of industry experience having served with Advest Inc. and GeoVest Advisors.


The Buffalo Renaissance Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a better Buffalo, elected James E. Iglewski, The Private Bank at The Bank of America; William S. Cleary, Dunn Tire; James F. Jerge, MCS Remedial Services and Thomas S. Quealy, Elias Asset Management, directors. The 2006 Class of directors will plan and organize the BRF's Annual Golf Classic in September.


First Niagara named Ralph Basile senior mortgage consultant. Basile, who has more than 20 years banking experience, will specialize in Federal Housing Administration, Veteran's Administration and first time homebuyers programs. He previously was with JP Morgan Chase, formerly Norwest Mortgage.


The accounting firm of Lumsden and McCormick promoted Robin M. Brand and Courtland Van Deusen V to tax managers. A Daemen College graduate, Brand joined the firm in 2002. Van Deusen is a graduate of Niagara University and has been with the firm since 2001.

Creation Station, a gift shop featuring handmade items by local artisans, recently relocated to 260 Central Avenue in Silver Creek. The new space allows the gift shop 1300 square feet of exhibit space and additional space for a separate classroom/work area.


Cannon Design, an architectural engineering and planning firm, received the American Institute of Architects/Continuing Education System 2006 Award for Excellence in recognition of the firm's commitment to quality in its continuing education programming for professional development.


Crowley Webb and Associates, a marketing communications agency in Buffalo, was honored with a Global Award in the consumer direct mail category for the "Campaign for Industry Influencers" poster the agency created for Praxis Communications, a Nashville-based company specializing in centralized patient recruitment for clinical research studies. Also, the agency received a finalist certificate in the consumer television--medical service commercial category for the "Be Happy" television commercial for Independent Health. The awards honor the best in healthcare communications worldwide.
