Julie P. Frazell, special-education teacher Feb. 27, 1958 -- Jan. 17, 2006

Julie P. Frazell, formerly of Hamburg, died Jan. 17 of heart failure in her home in Bremo Bluff, Va. She was 47.

She graduated from Hamburg High School, where she participated in music activities.

After receiving a degree in special education from Geneseo State College in 1982, she managed group homes and taught special-education classes for elementary and high school students in Rochester, North Carolina and then Virginia.

She worked at Mount Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va., and was to begin her final semester of nursing school at Piedmont College the day she died.

Miss Frazell had received a kidney transplant in 1991.

An animal lover, she volunteered at the Fluvanna County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Troy, Va.

Survivors include her parents, Theodore M. and Mae Jean of Hamburg.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 11 in Loomis, Offers & Loomis Funeral Home, 207 Main St., Hamburg.
