Two women and two girls, including a mother and daughter, were arrested Friday night after an encounter with police on the 400 block of 24th Street, officers said.
The trouble started just before 8 p.m. when Officer Nicolas Granto found a woman and teenage girl fighting on a porch, police said. The girl told officers the woman's daughter and two other females had jumped her earlier in the day.
When the older woman refused to leave and continued shouting obscenities, Granto placed her under arrest but reported he was unable to handcuff her because she continued to struggle. Capt. Frank Granto arrived and tried to help, but the woman's daughter interfered, police said.
Police finally subdued the two, but not before two other females joined the fracas, swinging at police, using obscene language and blocking vehicles, according to reports.
Demina J. Sturdivant, 52, of 24th Street, was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and failure to exercise control of a minor.
Her daughter, whose age was not listed in reports; 17-year-old Alexis C. Mallory, of Falls Street; and Shelley A. Brundidge, 25, of 19th Street, were charged with two counts of disorderly conduct. Brundidge also was charged with resisting arrest, police said.
