Are you worried about high gasoline prices? According to federal energy official Guy Caruso, you shouldn't be. He claims the typical car travels 12,000 miles per year and gets 20 mpg. Therefore, the increase in annual cost is only $180 per year.
Perhaps this is why Rep. Tom Reynolds voted against higher corporate average fuel economy, voted for gas and oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and voted for liability exemptions for manufacturers of the gasoline additive MTBE, which is harmful to our water supply.
Reynolds is also a leader of the conservative group of Republican House members that wants a 6 percent diversion of payroll taxes into private accounts. Yet he states he has no "position" on the matter and refused to attend the Social Security meeting in Amherst.
He also totally supports Tom DeLay and opposes the "death tax," even though it affects very few Americans and brings in billions of dollars in needed funds for such matters as the war in Iraq.
