FOILED ROBBERS WOUND FLEEING MAN IN THUMB

An East Delevan Avenue man said Saturday he feels lucky to be alive after suffering a gunshot wound when he foiled three men who tried to rob him near his house late Friday.

Michael Jendrasik, 33, said he swatted down a gun pointed at his head and fled from the 200 block of East Delavan as the firearm discharged and struck his right thumb.

"I'm lucky to be alive," said Jendrasik, who was treated at Erie County Medical Center and later released.

Northeast District police have descriptions of the would-be robbers and are searching for them, authorities said.
