Buffalo Prep, an organization that offers an academic-enrichment program for promising, economically challenged minority students, will sponsor its 10th annual Celebration of Achievement Dinner May 10 in the Mary Seaton Room in Kleinhans Music Hall, starting with cocktails at 6:30 p.m.
Dinner will precede a program that will showcase the organization's graduating high school seniors. The event also will honor the University at Buffalo, a long-time supporter that provides office and classroom space for the Buffalo Prep program.
Niscah Koessler and Gigi Ford are chairwomen of the dinner. Tickets are $125 and are available by calling 829-3605. Last year's event raised more than $100,000. Buffalo Prep students enroll at age 12, attend 14 months of academic enrichment classes and then apply to local private and independent high schools for scholarships. The organization then helps students apply and receive scholarships to colleges and universities.
