BELMONT MAN, 85, DIES, DAUGHTER HURT IN CRASH

A Belmont man was killed Saturday in a two-car crash on Curriers Road in the Wyoming County town of Java.

The Wyoming County Sheriff's Department said Leslie Brown, 85, was a passenger in a car driven by his daughter, Christine Jones, 56, also of Belmont.

Deputies said Daniel Ludwig, 21, of Java was backing a truck out of a driveway at about 2 p.m. and slammed into the passenger side of the vehicle Jones was driving.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene, while Jones suffered minor injuries, deputies said. Ludwig, who was not hurt in the crash, was issued a ticket charging him with unsafe backing.
