In the American League, Brian Roberts hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the eighth inning and the Orioles won their seventh straight game, 7-5, over the Devil Rays. Miguel Tejada homered for the third consecutive game. . . . Mark Kotsay had five hits, including a game-winning single with two outs in the 10th inning, to lift the Athletics past the Mariners, 6-5, in 10 innings. . . . Tadahito Iguchi's RBI single capped a three-run seventh as the White Sox rallied for a 4-3 victory that ended the Tigers' five-game winning streak. . . . Justin Morneau had a homer and a triple as the Twins won their fifth straight, beating the Angels, 4-2. . . . Johnny Damon and Trot Nixon hit consecutive homers in the fifth inning and Jason Varitek also went yard to lead the Red Sox over the Rangers, 9-2.

In the National League, Tomo Ohka allowed just two hits in six shutout innings and Nick Johnson and Ryan Church homered to lead the Nationals past the Mets, 5-3, in a game shortened to 7 1/2 innings because of rain. . . . Deivi Cruz hit a two-run homer and Pittsburgh center fielder Jason Bay's error helped key a three-run sixth inning, carrying the Giants past the Pirates, 7-6. . . . Chicago ace Kerry Wood left after three innings with shoulder pain, and Jeff Bagwell had three hits to help the Astros end their longest losing streak in nearly three years with a 7-5 victory over the Cubs. . . . Raul Mondesi homered leading off the bottom of the ninth to give the Braves a 3-2 win over the Cardinals.
