RHEA CLARKE, FORMER TEACHER
DIED APRIL 24, 2005

Rhea Hartburg Clarke, a former teacher, died on Sunday in the Scandinavian Home, Cranston, R.I., after a short illness. She was 91.

Born Rhea Hartburg in Bradford, Pa., she moved to Niagara Falls as a girl. She graduated from Keuka College with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught math and business in high schools in Western New York, and later lived in Massachusetts and Texas before moving to East Aurora in 1949. She later lived in Clarence, moving to Rhode Island in 1997.

Mrs. Clarke was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of East Aurora and the East Aurora Country Club.

Her husband of 45 years, William L., died in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra C. Hopf of Block Island, R.I.; a sister, Carol Nixon of Rochester; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in First Presbyterian Church of East Aurora. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Lewiston, is private.
