RADIO STATION TO PAY FOR 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS

WLVL-AM Radio has agreed to pay for the city's Independence Day fireworks show, Mayor Michael W. Tucker announced Friday.

WLVL took over as corporate sponsor for the $7,000 display after Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union dropped sponsorship following last year's show.

"We're really excited about it. We think it's going to be the best one ever," station owner Richard C. Greene said in announcing the sponsorship agreement on the air Friday.

Greene said the station intends to organize a full day of entertainment in Outwater Park on July 4 and will broadcast patriotic music to synchronize with the fireworks.
