Thomas F. Grzebinski II of Howard Avenue, a lifelong city resident, has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for 1st Ward alderman in this year's election.
"We need to refocus financial resources and become creative in luring prospective new business into our city," Grzebinski said in a statement. "We also need to defeat crime and get rid of the drug activity in our neighborhoods."
Grzebinski, assistant vice president of a mortgage banking firm, is a graduate of Lockport High School and Canisius College. He is a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Elks Lodge 441 and the Knights of Columbus.
The 1st Ward seat is currently held by Democrat David E. Blackley, an attorney, who has said he will likely run for re-election.
