Dr. William G. Gross, a gynecologist, died Monday in Millard Fillmore Hospital from complications after he slipped and fell seven weeks ago. He was 64.
Dr. Gross, an East Amherst resident, worked as a doctor since 1971 and had been on staff at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst.
He graduated from University at Buffalo Medical School.
The Buffalo native attended public schools in Buffalo and Chicago. He graduated from Grover Cleveland High School and Canisius College.
Dr. Gross converted to Catholicism while attending Canisius in the 1960s.
He served in the National Guard.
Dr. Gross belonged to the Knights of Columbus, in Grand Island.
A fan of the Chicago Cubs and Buffalo's professional sports teams, he also enjoyed golf, chess and computers.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, the former Suzann Rogowski; a daughter, Rebecca of Buffalo; four sons, Thomas and William, both of Buffalo, Alexander of Wheatfield and Christopher of West Haven, Conn.; and a granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 250 St. Gregory Court off Maple Road, Amherst. Prayers will be said at 9 in the Dietrich Funeral Homes Inc., 2480 Kensington Ave., Snyder. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
