CHARLES E. DAVID, FORMER TEAMSTERS LEADER
OCT. 22, 1922 -- APRIL 28, 2005

Charles E. David, 82, of Buffalo, a former Teamsters leader, died Thursday in Veteran Affairs Medical Center following a long illness.

Born in Lackawanna, Mr. David was a graduate of Hutchinson-Central High School. An Army veteran, he served during World War II as a private first class in a medical detachment.

He worked for more than 20 years as a truck driver for Boss-Linco Lines, retiring in 1970. Mr. David was very involved in labor union activity, and was a past president of Teamsters Local 375.

He was a past commander of Amherst Township Post 416, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. David, who owned a Lebanese Bakery as a young man, enjoyed Lebanese cooking.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, the former Eva Jones; a daughter, Jacquelyn Tuzzolino of Williamsville; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. today in St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 81 Burke Drive, Buffalo. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
