A 56-year-old woman died Thursday night after she was hit by a Metro bus in downtown Buffalo, authorities said.
The accident happened at about 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of Court and Pearl streets. The "8 Main" bus had been traveling west on Court and was turning south onto Pearl, according to Douglas Hartmayer, director of public affairs for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority.
The victim was crossing Pearl Street, heading west, and was hit by the left front section of the bus, Hartmayer said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim's name was withheld, pending notification of relatives.
After the accident, the bus driver was to undergo routine drug and alcohol testing, Hartmayer said. The driver's name was withheld Thursday night.
