URBAN SCHOOL CHALLENGES ARE FOCUS OF SYMPOSIUM

D'Youville College will host an international educational conference Saturday on the challenges facing young people in urban schools.

About 200 school administrators, graduate students and college faculty members from this country, Canada and Britain have signed up for the "First International Symposium on Urban Education and Intercultural Learning."

The conference will run all-day Saturday. Sister Denise A. Roche, D'Youville's president, will open the symposium with a welcome address; Robert M. Bennett, chancellor of the New York State Board of Regents, will speak on "Urban Schooling and New York State," and Peter McLaren, a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, will give the keynote address.
