Genevieve Zaferakis, of Amherst, died Thursday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a brief illness. She was 88.
Born Genevieve Chambos in Greece, she came to Buffalo as a child. She graduated from East High School.
Mrs. Zaferakis worked for her brother's restaurant, Jimmy's Drive-In, for about 15 years before working for Freddy's Doughnuts starting in the 1970s. She later moved to the Clarence branch and retired as a manager there in 1989.
She is survived by a daughter, Viki DiFrancesco Schacht of San Diego; a brother, James Chambos of Williamsville; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at noon Saturday in Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 146 W. Utica St. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
