Esther M. Williams, who worked in production at Globar Division of Carborundum Corp. for more than 25 years, died Wednesday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a long illness. She was 76.
Born Esther Favro in Olean, she attended Olean schools and came to Niagara Falls in the early 1950s with her husband, LaVerne R. She had been a volunteer in the gift shop at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
Mrs. Williams enjoyed cooking and baking and was known for her wedding cakes. She also enjoyed arts and crafts.
Her husband died in 1989.
Survivors include a son, David M. of Williamsville; a daughter, Paula M. Shimmel of Lewiston; a brother, Edward Favro of Palm City, Fla.; a sister, Paula Pikulski of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, after prayers at 8:45 in M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Town of Niagara. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
