A company hoping to obtain more than $15 million in federal funding to launch a demonstration project for recycling military munitions will present its proposal to the West Valley Citizen Task Force at 7 p.m. today. David Kautz of the Wyvern Group, a company proposing to use the former commercial nuclear fuels reprocessing site for a recycling facility, will make the presentation. The company has drawn support from Ashford, the West Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Cattaraugus County Legislature.
The Task Force was instrumental in initiating a study on economic redevelopment of the site to save jobs in the area and is expected to finalize its recommendations for a report on the topic by Southern Tier West Regional Development Agency.
The monthly Task Force meetings are held at the West Valley Demonstration Project on Rock Springs Road in Ashford and are open to the public.
