Cecelia R. Herod, a former commercial buyer for Roswell Park Cancer Institute, died Sunday in East Side Nursing Home, Warsaw. She was 85.
Born in Niagara Falls, she lived in Buffalo prior to moving to Warsaw in 1998 and to the nursing home two years ago.
She worked for Roswell Park for 15 years, retiring in 1984.
Mrs. Herod attended St. Michael's Catholic Church and enjoyed reading and crafts. She specialized in lapidary and loved to garden.
Her husband of more than 50 years, Anthony P., died in 1995.
She is survived by three sons, Valentine of Cornish Flats, N.H., Joseph of Woodbridge, Va., and Walter of Orangeville; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Michael's Church, 171 N. Main St. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
