A Sloan village budget workshop scheduled for Wednesday night has been moved to 7 p.m. Friday in Village Hall, Halstead and Reiman streets.
Former Mayor Kenneth Pokorski assembled a proposed budget in late March that held the line on taxes, but when the new administration began to go over the numbers, it was determined the budget wouldn't work as presented. Instead, officials fear there could be a tax increase of at least 10 percent.
Mayor Leonard Szymanski and Anthony Sisti, who serves as the village's budget officer, have had two public hearings on the budget. Friday's workshop is expected to be the final meeting, with the village required to pass a budget by May 1.
