AROUND AND ABOUT

* Canucks forward Todd Bertuzzi, whose blindside punch to Steve Moore's head nearly 14 months ago may have permanently knocked the Colorado Avalanche player out of hockey, was to meet with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman today with the hope of being reinstated.

* Wimbledon prize money will approach $20 million this summer, increasing 3.9 percent to $19.16 million at current exchange rates, the highest prize money for a tennis tournament. The men's champion will earn $50,000 more -- $1.19 million to $1.14 million -- than the women's winner.

* The British Open will allow women to compete starting in 2006, and might even accept Michelle Wie this summer if she qualifies. The three majors in the United States -- the Masters, U.S. Open and PGA -- have no policy barring women.
