SALAMANCA FIRE LEAVES $300,000 IN DAMAGES

Damages were estimated at more than $300,000 in the weekend fire that destroyed a building operated by Cattaraugus Community Action.

Salamanca firefighters were called at 4:30 a.m. Saturday to the building at 231 Main St., which was used for food storage and weatherizing services.

They were able to save an attached building owned by the city and occupied by Talbot Racing. The fire appeared to be accidental but remained under investigation.
