Freida Folger, a longtime employee of Sahlen's meat-packing company, died Friday in Mercy Hospital after a long illness. She was 83.
A lifelong resident of the area, the former Freida Rubach was a graduate of South Park High School and Millard Fillmore School of Nursing.
During World War II, she worked at Curtiss-Wright and later at Sahlen's, where she retired in 1984. She also worked as a home health care nurse.
A devoted mother and wife, Mrs. Folger enjoyed the outdoors and cooking. She also was a 52-year member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy A. Kropidlowski, and a son, Norman, both of West Seneca; two sisters, Clara Pincer and Amelia Dubel, both of Buffalo; a brother, Raymond Rubach of Eden; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered today in St. Bernard's Church. Burial was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
